The Student Sight Savers Program is a program sponsored by the Friends of the Congressional Glaucoma Foundation. It serves as a tool to identify those people at risk for developing glaucoma, one of the leading causes of blindness. Medical students, under the supervision of board certified ophthalmologists, go into the community and provide free glaucoma screenings. This program serves to increase awareness in the community about glaucoma and also introduces medical students to the field of ophthalmology.
